Using Adventify

This guide walks you through creating, managing and sharing your virtual advent calendars with Adventify. It covers signing up, building calendars, adding content behind doors, managing media, checking analytics (where available), and looking after your account.

Getting started

Adventify runs entirely in your browser. You'll need an account to create and manage calendars, but anyone with a calendar link can open doors and enjoy the content you put behind them.

Joining Adventify

To create a new account, go to the join page and complete the short form. You'll be asked for:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • A password
  • A confirmation of your password

Once you've submitted the form, your account is created straight away and you can sign in to your dashboard to start building calendars.

Signing in

To return to your Adventify account, go to the sign in page and enter the email address and password you registered with. If you've forgotten your password, click the Recover password link before the sign in form, enter your email address, and follow the instructions sent to you by email.

The dashboard

Once you've signed in, you'll land on your dashboard. This is where you manage everything related to your calendars: creating new ones, editing existing ones, uploading media, adjusting your account details, and, on Enterprise plans, viewing analytics.

At the top of every dashboard page you'll see a simple menu:

  • Calendars – takes you to your list of calendars.
  • Media – opens your Media Library.
  • Settings – opens your Account Settings page.
  • Sign out – ends your session when you're finished.

You can move between these sections at any time without losing your work, as long as you've saved any changes on the page you're leaving.

On your Account Settings page you can download an invoice relating to previous payments and request your account and all related data is deleted.

Creating and managing calendars

The Calendars section of your dashboard shows all the calendars you've created, along with their public links and basic stats. From here you can create new calendars, edit existing ones, share them with others, or delete them completely.

Creating a new calendar

To create a calendar, click the Create button. A pop-up will ask for:

  • Calendar name – how the calendar will be labelled in your dashboard.
  • Back half of the link – this becomes the end of the URL, for example https://adventify.co/mycalendar.

When you save, Adventify creates the calendar and adds it to your list. You can then open it in the editor to set the season, background and content behind each door.

Understanding the calendars list

Your calendars are shown in a table with helpful information at a glance:

  • Name – the label you chose when creating the calendar.
  • Link – the public URL you can share with your audience.
  • Opens – how many times the calendar has been viewed. On supported plans you can click this number to see detailed analytics.
  • Actions – quick access to sharing, editing and deleting.

Sharing a calendar

The Share action opens a pop-up with everything you need to promote your calendar:

You'll see the shareable link, which you can click to copy, and a custom QR code that points directly to your calendar. You can download the QR code as an image for use on posters, flyers, emails or social media. There's also an embed code, which lets you place the calendar directly into your own website.

Editing or deleting calendars

Use the Edit action to open the full calendar editor, where you can change the season, background, door rules and content behind each door.

The Delete action permanently removes the calendar and all associated media from your account. Only use this when you're sure you no longer need the calendar or any of the files linked to it.

Editing a calendar

The calendar editor gives you full control over how your calendar looks and behaves. You'll usually reach it by clicking Edit beside a calendar in your list.

Basic calendar settings

At the top of the editor you'll find the main settings:

Name: this is how the calendar appears in your dashboard and, in some cases, on the calendar itself.
Season: choose between a Christmas calendar with 24 doors, or a Halloween calendar with 30 doors. If you switch to Halloween, the grid automatically reshapes into a 5×6 layout ready for an October countdown.
Background: pick an image to sit behind your doors. Backgrounds should be JPG or PNG files, at least 900 px wide, with an aspect ratio of around 3:4. You can upload these in the Media Library and then select them here.

Door opening rules

The When can it be opened? setting controls how strictly doors follow the calendar:

  • Normal (open today + past days) [Default] – users can open today's door and any previous days, but not future ones.
  • Always open (no restrictions) – doors are not date-limited; they can be opened at any time. This is useful for demonstrations or non-seasonal campaigns.
  • Strict (only on its day) – each door only opens on its exact day. This keeps the countdown tightly controlled.

You can adjust this behaviour at any time, even after a calendar has gone live.

Visual effects

If you want a more festive feel, you can enable Make it snow. This adds a light animated snowfall effect over your calendar's background.

Data capture

This setting adds a simple sign-in step before anyone can open a door. Visitors will be asked to enter their name and email address, and the calendar won't unlock until they do. It's designed for businesses that want to collect leads or keep track of who's engaging with their calendar.

Data Capture is available to Enterprise users only.

Content behind the doors

Each door can reveal different types of content when it's opened. You can mix and match options, or use them individually. For each door you can set:

Text: add a short message of up to 50 characters. You can choose both the background colour and the text colour to keep messages on-brand or simply festive.
Image: display an image when the door opens. This could be a product shot, a photograph, artwork or anything else you've uploaded to the Media Library. Any dimensions are allowed, though using consistent sizes usually looks best.
Video: paste in a YouTube URL if you want a video to play when the door is opened. This is ideal for trailers, greetings, reveal videos or messages from your team.
Link: add a URL to any web page. Adventify generates a QR code pointing to this link, which appears behind the door. Users can scan it on their phone to visit the page directly.

You can use one or all of these options on the same door. For example, you might show a short text message, a product image and a QR code taking users to a special offer page.

All content remains hidden until its door is due to open, based on the rules you set. This makes Adventify a secure way to hold discount codes, time-limited offers or exclusive digital downloads until the right moment.

A Save changes button is fixed at the bottom of the editor so you can quickly save updates as you go.

Using the Media Library

The Media Library stores the files you use across your calendars. Any images or audio you want behind doors should be uploaded here first, then selected from within the editor.

At the top of the Media Library you'll find a drop zone for bulk uploads. You can drag and drop files directly into this area, or click to browse your computer. Adventify supports MP3, JPG, PNG and GIF files.

Below the drop zone is a table of your existing files, each with a thumbnail preview. From here you can:

  • Rename files to make them easier to find later.
  • Delete files you no longer need.

Direct video uploads are not supported. For videos, upload them to YouTube and then paste the YouTube URL into the video field for the relevant door in the calendar editor.

Analytics (Enterprise)

Analytics are available on Enterprise plans. They help you understand how people interact with your calendars so you can refine campaigns and measure engagement.

You can usually reach analytics from the Opens count beside a calendar in your dashboard. The analytics view shows:

Total opens: the overall number of times the calendar has been viewed.
Views over time: a graph of how opens are distributed across days, helping you spot peaks in activity.
Clicks by location: a breakdown of where your calendar is being accessed from and how users arrive – for example, via the shareable link or by scanning a QR code.

If you use links behind your doors, Adventify also tracks how many people follow those links or scan the QR codes generated for them. This is particularly useful for tracking the performance of specific offers, landing pages or campaigns.

Managing your account and plan

You can update your personal details at any time from the Settings section of your dashboard. This includes your name, email address and password.

Pricing information is listed on the main pricing page, where you can compare the Free, Professional and Enterprise plans. If you already have an account and want to upgrade, go to your dashboard and open the upgrade section. From there you can change plans and unlock additional features such as advanced analytics.

What your audience sees

When someone visits the public link to your calendar, they'll see the background image you've chosen, overlaid with either 24 or 30 doors depending on the season you selected. The doors are arranged in a layout chosen by Adventify, and users simply click or tap any door that is available to open it.

Once a door is opened, Adventify remembers that choice for that user. When they return on the same device and browser, all previously opened doors remain open, just like a physical advent calendar. Doors can't be closed again. However, there is a close door button inside each door in case the user does want to close it again.

What the user sees behind each door depends on the content you set: messages, images, videos, links or any combination of these. It's up to you how playful, promotional or personal each reveal is.
